Day 14 - 1 exam to go and then HOME!

Hi there and welcome to one of my final days in Perth!

So this mornings exam went very smoothly... It went for three hours and was really quite hard! I felt as though I went really well and I am confident that I passed. So, yay!

Just one more left, foundations of psychology tomorrow afternoon! Not stressing for that one... yet...

Anyway, after the exam I ran some errands. On my way home, two cheerful guys riding around uni campus on large tricycles gave me a Chupa Chup and said, "good luck with your exams!"

It made my day so, thank you Chupa Chup guys!

I returned home safely with no bird attacks which was a lovely change and spent some time unwinding after unloading my brain in the exam.

I decided to start packing for home! Because in case you haven't noticed, ONLY TWO MORE DAYS!

I started with the essentials:

  • clothes
  • clothes
  • more clothes
  • swimwear
  • gossip girl series (mum and I are having a marathon)
  • hats
  • toothbrush
  • and some more clothes (we all need options)
So I haven't quite finished yet but I think I have made a good start! I like to think I have gotten quite good at packing after the years at boarding school and whatnot...

I kind of enjoy packing because it (usually) means you are going somewhere new/different which I think is exciting! Yay for summer holidays!

Where are you packing for this summer?

Day 12 - I was having a productive day until...

Hi there and welcome to my productive day that quickly turned into my first ever international football game experience!

So today was a house keeping day for me (to begin with).

I was in desperate need for groceries and with only 4 days left in Perth, it seems pointless to buy lots! So my final food supply is:
  • Milk
  • Tea
  • 3 x Bananas
  • Salt and vingar shapes
  • Fish fingers
  • Alfredo pasta
My student food survival pack: $12.89

So there I was... Doing washing, cleaning dishes, tidying up, doing groceries and getting study done...

When all of a sudden my friend, Sarah, rings and offers me a ticket to go to Australia versus Ireland International Rules Football game!

Sarah: "So what are you doing right now?"
Me: "Studying and watching Big Brother."
Sarah: "Do you want to be studying?"
Me: "I probably should be but I don't really want to..."
Sarah: "Well I have a spare ticket to the footy tonight..."
Me: "YEP!"

International rules follow the rules of gaelic football which both Sarah and I were extremely unfamiliar with... But we definitely got used to it more as the game went on. I actually really enjoyed watching this kind of football!

The atmosphere was really amazing! A lot more Irish people than I thought there would be, which explained the super massive lines to the bar... Haha just kidding, I love you Ireland!

An enthusiastic group of guys in the crowd to our right started a HUGE Mexican wave, like the biggest I have ever seen. MASSIVE! It circled the stadium at least six times before security stopped it because people were throwing cups and beer and all sorts of things in the air... I wouldn't want to be the one to clean that up afterwards... Take a look at the video!

So yeah, I ended up having a fabulous day so, THANK YOU SARAH! Now I really need to get my butt into gear and get prepared for these exams... They're very close now and I am getting more and more nervous...

Oh well! They have to be done I guess! Hope you guys had a good day.

Day 10 - Annoying much?

Hi there and welcome to the things that really God damn annoy me.

Somedays I am more irritable than others but I have just been noticing these that can really truly tick me off! So I am going to share with you the things that really push my buttons because we all have them!

WAYS TO ANNOY EBONY

People honking their car horn at me or revving their car... YOU'RE NOT COOL!

Borrowing without asking
When your message is "seen" but no reply...

That stupid, stupid bird that keeps swooping me

When you sit down and don't realise there is no toilet paper before it's too late

People who think you will drop anything and change your plans to suit them

My hairs reaction to rain

When my mascara makes my eyelashes stick together

When I send kick-ass snapchat and no one even responds

People who are know-it-all's...

Imitation is NOT the best form of flattery, it's just annoying

When I run out of conditioner but still have plenty of shampoo left

So yes, I'm sure most people could relate to a majority of these annoying and unnecessary occurrences in day-to-day life.

Anyway, today I had very boring and lazy day, hence the post being unrelated to my daily experience. But I hope you guys had a good day and didn't have to endure any of these peeves of mine.

Day 7 - 1 down, 2 to go! I had a good day.

Hi there and welcome to my day that was good.

Not many people would think that the day of an exam can ever be a good day but mine was.

Here's the things that made my day a good one:

  • It is my little brother's 10th birthday and he had a good day which made me happy.
  • I put my textbooks up for secondhand sale so hopefully I'll get some good money which would make me happy.
  • The lady at the secondhand shop was so nice and friendly which also made me happy.
  • I went into my exam nerve-free, finished early and left confident which made me happy.
  • I then caught up with my good friend, who I hadn't seen all semester, for dinner at Nandos which was  lovely and super yummy, so yeah, I was happy.
  • My friend, Reene, told about a cookies and cream cheesecake by saying, "it is $6 of happiness and joy", so I bought it.
  • I finally got home to a package from Beginning Boutique with my new Rhythm bikini top and I am so happy with my purchase!
  • And it is only 9 days till I go home!

So you could say I had a pretty great day, but only because I focussed on the positives. I didn't dwell on the fact I got attacked AGAIN by the bird TWICE or that I arrived two hours early to my exam or that I am well over my fortnightly budget after dinner and cake.

But life is too short to be negative.

So anyway, how was your day? I hope it was a good one.

Ugh, this post is so cheesy I could vomit... Haha

Comment below and let me know if you are having a good day, a bad day or an in-between day. We all have 'em!

P.S: just want to say it one more time, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC! Love ya

Day 6 - Pre-exam cram

Hi there and welcome to my day of pre-exam cramming.

I tried it all today folks! I studied inside, I studied outside, I created flash cards, I re-wrote notes, I answered review questions... Now all I can do is trust my efforts and turn up at the exam tomorrow.

Just the feeling of relief is going to be fabulous! This time tomorrow it will be 1 down, 2 to go.

My pre-exam rituals are just like every night, keeping the stress/anxiety levels down. Tonight I have had a lovely dinner and after I write this I am off for a shower before I cuddle into bed to watch a movie. An early night is important!

So is being organised. My Frankie Magazine Daily Journal is the cutest planner you will ever see which makes it more fun to be organised. Awesome gift this festival season. You can order them here. I hope Santa brings me one!

So I have decided tonights movie is going to be Divergent because I still haven't seen it! My little sister read all the books in about two days so I am assuming it is good? I'll let you know!

Oh and as well as my exam, it is also another birthday tomorrow! My little brother, Isaac, will be turning 10! Big ol' double digits! Wish I could be there buddy.

Anyway, I am off! Wish me luck!

And good luck for everyone else currently sitting exams, I feel for you!

Day 1 - Just another day

Hi there and welcome to just another day.

Today I have a had a pretty standard day, nothing fabulous but nothing terrible.

Firstly, my breaky was two wheet-bix with skim milk and peaches topped with sugar. It is my favourite breakfast at the moment just because it is quick, easy, cheap and yummy! And I also had a cup of tea because it's impossible to start the day without one... It is possible that I am addicted...

I then strolled to uni to do some study at the library. I was not even two steps out the door and this little tweety bird ATTACKED my hair! It has happened twice this week! It is so small but so persistent! I am convinced my hair just look like a birds nest and it must think that I am stealing its babies on my head... Anyway, that was an intense start to my day.

Once I got to the library in one piece, I did a few hours of study in preparation for my upcoming exams. I have 3 exams: evidence informed health practice, business law and foundations of psychology. I am not too stressed about them which I think is really important. I know that this time of year provokes a lot of anxiety, stress and frustration for students so here is...

Eb's top study tips:
1. time management is crucial - like CRUCIAL! Tailor your studying schedule into your daily routine in a way that suits you. Don't leave study too late but also not too early before an exam or all your hard work will no longer be fresh in your mind!
2. find your personal study style - I need almost silence when I study and I am a writter-downer, so I rewrite my notes over and over until it's stuck in my head! But this is different for everyone! I find it important to stick to a similar study environment so the brain begins to associate your surroundings with revising/study (it's true!)
3. maintain balance - it is easy to become either way to consumed by study or no motivation to study at all. Maintaing a healthy balance of lazy time, social time, study time and exercise time can decrease the level of anxiety and stress you experience when preparing for exams.

In the afternoon it was time for some yoga. Being on a student budget, I don't even have a yoga mat, which are usually quite expensive... I do my yoga workouts on my carpet mat and it does the trick!

I use the Pocket Yoga app by Rainfrog for $3.79. I love it!

I am still a total "yoga rookie" but I really enjoy it and feel so great afterwards. My current favourite yoga pose is the reverse warrior which looks a little like this:

It strengthens the lower half of your body while stretching your back, waist and shoulders. Have a try of holding it 10 seconds either side alternating stance and arms. Feels so great!

Anyway, this was my not-very-exciting day... Comment on this post with your favourite breakfast meal, study suggestions or yoga tips!

Hope you had a great day!
