Day 14 - 1 exam to go and then HOME!

Hi there and welcome to one of my final days in Perth!

So this mornings exam went very smoothly... It went for three hours and was really quite hard! I felt as though I went really well and I am confident that I passed. So, yay!

Just one more left, foundations of psychology tomorrow afternoon! Not stressing for that one... yet...

Anyway, after the exam I ran some errands. On my way home, two cheerful guys riding around uni campus on large tricycles gave me a Chupa Chup and said, "good luck with your exams!"

It made my day so, thank you Chupa Chup guys!

I returned home safely with no bird attacks which was a lovely change and spent some time unwinding after unloading my brain in the exam.

I decided to start packing for home! Because in case you haven't noticed, ONLY TWO MORE DAYS!

I started with the essentials:

  • clothes
  • clothes
  • more clothes
  • swimwear
  • gossip girl series (mum and I are having a marathon)
  • hats
  • toothbrush
  • and some more clothes (we all need options)
So I haven't quite finished yet but I think I have made a good start! I like to think I have gotten quite good at packing after the years at boarding school and whatnot...

I kind of enjoy packing because it (usually) means you are going somewhere new/different which I think is exciting! Yay for summer holidays!

Where are you packing for this summer?

Day 10 - Annoying much?

Hi there and welcome to the things that really God damn annoy me.

Somedays I am more irritable than others but I have just been noticing these that can really truly tick me off! So I am going to share with you the things that really push my buttons because we all have them!

WAYS TO ANNOY EBONY

People honking their car horn at me or revving their car... YOU'RE NOT COOL!

Borrowing without asking
When your message is "seen" but no reply...

That stupid, stupid bird that keeps swooping me

When you sit down and don't realise there is no toilet paper before it's too late

People who think you will drop anything and change your plans to suit them

My hairs reaction to rain

When my mascara makes my eyelashes stick together

When I send kick-ass snapchat and no one even responds

People who are know-it-all's...

Imitation is NOT the best form of flattery, it's just annoying

When I run out of conditioner but still have plenty of shampoo left

So yes, I'm sure most people could relate to a majority of these annoying and unnecessary occurrences in day-to-day life.

Anyway, today I had very boring and lazy day, hence the post being unrelated to my daily experience. But I hope you guys had a good day and didn't have to endure any of these peeves of mine.

Day 7 - 1 down, 2 to go! I had a good day.

Hi there and welcome to my day that was good.

Not many people would think that the day of an exam can ever be a good day but mine was.

Here's the things that made my day a good one:

  • It is my little brother's 10th birthday and he had a good day which made me happy.
  • I put my textbooks up for secondhand sale so hopefully I'll get some good money which would make me happy.
  • The lady at the secondhand shop was so nice and friendly which also made me happy.
  • I went into my exam nerve-free, finished early and left confident which made me happy.
  • I then caught up with my good friend, who I hadn't seen all semester, for dinner at Nandos which was  lovely and super yummy, so yeah, I was happy.
  • My friend, Reene, told about a cookies and cream cheesecake by saying, "it is $6 of happiness and joy", so I bought it.
  • I finally got home to a package from Beginning Boutique with my new Rhythm bikini top and I am so happy with my purchase!
  • And it is only 9 days till I go home!

So you could say I had a pretty great day, but only because I focussed on the positives. I didn't dwell on the fact I got attacked AGAIN by the bird TWICE or that I arrived two hours early to my exam or that I am well over my fortnightly budget after dinner and cake.

But life is too short to be negative.

So anyway, how was your day? I hope it was a good one.

Ugh, this post is so cheesy I could vomit... Haha

Comment below and let me know if you are having a good day, a bad day or an in-between day. We all have 'em!

P.S: just want to say it one more time, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC! Love ya

Day 4 - Study, puppies and chocolate

Hi there and welcome to my post about study, puppies and chocolate.

Today I did lots and lots of studying! I have an exam this Monday for evidence informed health practice but I wasn't actually studying for that today. Purely because I need 9% in the exam to pass the unit and the exam is multiple choice and fill in the blank... so yeah, higher education, woo!

I was studying for my business law exam which requires a lot of studying because I need to know a heap of court cases off the top of my head. It is SO draining especially since it's really not my thang... BUT on the upside, I only in 13.8% in the exam to pass the unit.

I have never been so excited for exams just so they can be over!

Because then I can be home and cuddling our new puppies! Our family dog had puppies on halloween and their little baby eyes have just started to open! I am so excited to meet them and cuddle them! Just 12 more days! Aw just look at that little face...

Today I also watched Australia thrash South Africa in the cricket. I was doing a mixture of watching and studying and facebooking but I decided I needed chocolate.

On my way to the shop, surprise surprise, I was swooped at AGAIN! Next time I am going to try and film it... None of other housemates experience the wrath of this evil bird! Why me!

Anyway, I got my favourite chocolate snack at the moment which is milk chocolate caramels by Pascall. When I was younger, I don't know why but I always thought that caramels and eclairs were like old people lollies... So yeah, I guess that makes me old now doesn't it...

So tomorrow it is my beautiful mum's birthday yay! She is turning 37 and I bought her perfume the other day, Calvin Klein's Obsession. Even though the perfume store sold me a different perfume to what I initially smelt, Obsession is really nice and my mum appreciated it so much. I am really sad I can't be with my mum tomorrow but look out mum, appreciation post coming your way!

I am also going to the movies with my friend Sarah tomorrow to watch Love, Rosie. So I will let you know how that goes and give you a little review.

Day 2 - Dream interpretation

Hi there and welcome to my blog.

Today I was attacked AGAIN by the bird and it's really stressful knowing that every time I leave my house a bird is going to swoop and peck the sh*t outta my hair!

Anyway... I left the house for an eye appointment so I am now fully equipped with new seeing glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. I loooove them all! Especially the contacts since I can now see everything even in my peripherals. Yay!

Thankfully this went smoothly because last night in my dream, the appointment didn't go so great...

The 3 main things you need to know about my dream to get the gist:
1. I got to my appointment and there was thousands of people there pushing and shoving
2. I remembered that I forgot to wear my contact lenses to the appointment which was a MUST
3. I went to put them in my eye but they were SO big that they were just stabbing my eye lid

So when I woke up I thought, "lets get this interpreted!", because I never usually remember my dreams.
My best friend is really into all this dream interpretation and psychics and stuff so I like to give her the benefit of the doubt by using

Aspect number 1: Appointment
"To dream that you are going to an appointment suggests that you need to be more goal-oriented. If you dream that you miss an appointment, then it indicates that you are not paying enough attention to some minor details and little things in life."

Aspect number 2: Pushing
"To dream that you are pushed or being pushed suggests that you are being coerced into doing something. You are facing a lot of pressure. Alternatively, the dream implies that you do not have enough time to complete a task. You strive for perfection."

Aspect number 3: Contact lenses
"To see or wear contact lens in your dream suggests that you need to focus on the task at hand. You need to pay closer attention to a situation before acting on it. If you have difficulties putting on your contact lens in your dream, then it indicates that you are having trouble paying attention."

First of all, I like to think I am a very goal-oriented person, thank-you very much! Secondly, these claims are so far-reaching it's almost ridiculous...

Although, the part about having trouble paying attention in my life is currently totally relatable...

But yes, if you wanna share your dreams or stories about contact lenses or suggestions on how to GET RID OF THIS GOD DAMN BIRD, please, please comment!

See you tomorrow!

Day 1 - Just another day

Hi there and welcome to just another day.

Today I have a had a pretty standard day, nothing fabulous but nothing terrible.

Firstly, my breaky was two wheet-bix with skim milk and peaches topped with sugar. It is my favourite breakfast at the moment just because it is quick, easy, cheap and yummy! And I also had a cup of tea because it's impossible to start the day without one... It is possible that I am addicted...

I then strolled to uni to do some study at the library. I was not even two steps out the door and this little tweety bird ATTACKED my hair! It has happened twice this week! It is so small but so persistent! I am convinced my hair just look like a birds nest and it must think that I am stealing its babies on my head... Anyway, that was an intense start to my day.

Once I got to the library in one piece, I did a few hours of study in preparation for my upcoming exams. I have 3 exams: evidence informed health practice, business law and foundations of psychology. I am not too stressed about them which I think is really important. I know that this time of year provokes a lot of anxiety, stress and frustration for students so here is...

Eb's top study tips:
1. time management is crucial - like CRUCIAL! Tailor your studying schedule into your daily routine in a way that suits you. Don't leave study too late but also not too early before an exam or all your hard work will no longer be fresh in your mind!
2. find your personal study style - I need almost silence when I study and I am a writter-downer, so I rewrite my notes over and over until it's stuck in my head! But this is different for everyone! I find it important to stick to a similar study environment so the brain begins to associate your surroundings with revising/study (it's true!)
3. maintain balance - it is easy to become either way to consumed by study or no motivation to study at all. Maintaing a healthy balance of lazy time, social time, study time and exercise time can decrease the level of anxiety and stress you experience when preparing for exams.

In the afternoon it was time for some yoga. Being on a student budget, I don't even have a yoga mat, which are usually quite expensive... I do my yoga workouts on my carpet mat and it does the trick!

I use the Pocket Yoga app by Rainfrog for $3.79. I love it!

I am still a total "yoga rookie" but I really enjoy it and feel so great afterwards. My current favourite yoga pose is the reverse warrior which looks a little like this:

It strengthens the lower half of your body while stretching your back, waist and shoulders. Have a try of holding it 10 seconds either side alternating stance and arms. Feels so great!

Anyway, this was my not-very-exciting day... Comment on this post with your favourite breakfast meal, study suggestions or yoga tips!

Hope you had a great day!
