Day 29 - My little siblings are champions

Hi there and welcome to a brag about my siblings.

Today was my brother and sister's end of school concert where awards are presented and performances are put on display.

The theme was Australian History which I automatically assumed it was going to be a snore fest but it was surprisingly entertaining!

Some cute little Aussies, singing and dancing everywhere was quite adorable...

Check out the Aussie version of Jingle Bells... Stereotypically classic!

Anyway! I just wanna brag about my siblings a little because they made me a very proud sister tonight...

Ava, aged 8, danced and sung like a trooper! Her dancing partner was missing but she soldiered on with a smile throughout the entire night.

Isaac, aged 10, is not the dancing/singing type AT ALL, but he still did a great job in his little presentation. Isaac was also elected by his fellow students to be school captain for 2015! Congrats Isaac, you are going to be a great school captain, I know it!

Mae, aged 13, experienced her very last end of school concert EVER! And she finished her primary school career very successfully...

  • The Senior Endeavour Award - 3 books
  • Graduation Presents
  • The Dux Scholarship - $200!!!

Very impressive! She has now graduated from primary school and will be heading off to high school next year. I remember how scary beginning high school was for me, but I am very confident that my sister is going to kill it!

So yeah, as you can tell I am extremely proud of all my siblings! I guess you can say they have a fabulous role model... *cough cough*

Hah, love you guys

Day 28 - I love Christmas carols!

Hi there and welcome to my all time FAVOURITE Christmas carols!

So my family household 100% embraces the Christmas spirit with non-stop carols throughout the whole month of December. Nearly every year I make a new mixed CD/playlist of Christmas songs to play on repeat that year.

I am currently in the process of creating that new playlist so I thought I'd share my all-time favourite Christmas songs!

Christmas playlist of 2014

1. Do they know it's Christmas

2. All I want for Christmas - Jessica Mauboy

3. Jingle bells - Glee

4. Happy Xmas - John Lennon

5. 12 days of Christmas - Shrek

6. Sleigh ride - Ella Fitzgerald

7. Mr Grinch

8. Step into Christmas - Elton John

9. Most wonderful time of the year - Andy Williams

10. Baby it's cold outside - Zooey Deschanel and Leon Redbone

11. Santa bring my baby back to me - Elvis Presley

12. Mistletoe - Justin Bieber

13. Beginning to look a lot like Christmas - Michael Buble

14. What Christmas means to me - Stevie Wonder

15. We wish you a merry Christmas - Jackson 5

And there is probably sooo many more good ones that I've missed but this is my top 15! I hope you are all getting into the festive spirit and dancing around shamelessly to Christmas carols like I am!

Only 17 days till Christmas!

Day 17 - My very productive day. RIP Phillip Hughes xxx

Hi there and welcome to my day of housework and graduation preparation!

I had a very early start today at 5.30am to head out on the ocean to catch some lobsters! We caught 4 in total which will make a very very lovely dinner. Today was the first time I had ever been out that far in the ocean and the water was just gorgeous... A clear deep blue just like the movies...

After that I sent everyone off to work and school and took on the role as housekeeper. I completed the following chores:
  • a mount everest of dishes
  • three loads of washing
  • tending to the puppies/dogs
  • ironed 28 seat covers for my sister's graduation
  • and over all tidied up
I am an angel daughter...

It is my little sister's graduation from primary school tomorrow! So I lending a helping hand in setting it all up today in the theme of 'fire and ice' and it looks pretty great!

My sister, Mae, it pretty pumped for her graduation! We tested out some hair styles and it is so unfair because she has THEE most amazing hair ever... She is going to look so fantastic tomorrow!

I'll definitely be posting pictures, so stay tuned!

I also got a job today as a bartender which will be interesting... But we shall see how it goes I guess!

Lastly, I want to mention that I love cricket. And today was an extremely sad day for the cricket world with the passing of 25 year old, Phillip Hughes. Such a tragic loss of someone so young and so passionate.
Rest in peace Hughes.

Day 16 - Eventful travels home

Hi there and welcome to the day I finally got to go home!

I was packed and ready to go by 11am this morning. My mum arrived at about 11.30am and being the gorgeous daughter I am, I made her a coffee.

We then went off for some shopping but headed straight to the food court for some lunch. After wandering past every possible option, we decided on some stuffed baked potatoes... mmmm...

As we lined up to order, an alarm sounded.

*EMERGENCY! PLEASE EVACUATE*

My initial reaction was, "aw what?! But I'm hungry and I want a baked potato..."

But we listened to the advice of the big loud alarm and went outside the shopping centre to get wok in a box instead... Which was delish!

After all the chaos subsided from what we assumed was a kitchen fire, we went back in to get some essential shopping done for my little sister's primary school graduation.

In the meantime, the weather was WILD! It was 34 degrees with lightening, rain and apparently hail. Up north in a town called Eneabba, near my hometown, the lightening was particularly bad with a number of fires erupting around the area.

And as it turns out, my siblings were doing swimming lessons at Eneabba at the time! But everyone is safe and the school and some residents were evacuated. I hope everyone is and remains safe and sound!

But eventually I got home to the most gorgeous little puppies! Making our eventful day all worth it! Oh and my family... Hahah love you guys.

So happy to be home!

Day 15 - Finished my first year of university!

Hi there and welcome my final day at as first year uni student!

My day started with a little sleep in and then some breakfast. I roamed downstairs in my pjs and was welcomed by a couple of strangers in our downstairs bathroom!

I forgot the maintenance people were paying a visit today, oops! Good morning!

I spent the rest of my day cramming for my psychology exam. I really enjoy psychology so I feel as though it is easy to study for and I find it really easy to understand. So the cram session was very successful...

Throughout the day I also made it my mission to finish all of my remaining food in the house and I am proud to say, the only things that belong to me in the fridge currently is milk and a jar of pickles!

Impressive, right? I never leave leftovers...

So my exam was in the stadium on the far opposite of campus from my house and it was 35 degrees. When I was halfway there, I actually contemplated taking a break from walking, but I powered on!

I entered at 5:25pm
Started reading time at 5:30pm
Commenced my exam at 5:40pm
FINISHED at 6:45pm

HOORAY!

I walked home with a little spring in my step knowing that I had just completed the first year of my degree! I had all the feelings of accomplishment, relief and happiness.

And then I realise... 4 more years of this! Sh*t!

Haha nah, but for now I am so glad I can reset over summer at home with my family. Which I think is exactly what I need right now.

I celebrated the completion of my exams with my housemate, Yunita, by watching Big Brother and eating KFC. Thanks Yunita!

Anyway, I am off to finish packing... HOME TOMORROW! Au revior!

Day 14 - 1 exam to go and then HOME!

Hi there and welcome to one of my final days in Perth!

So this mornings exam went very smoothly... It went for three hours and was really quite hard! I felt as though I went really well and I am confident that I passed. So, yay!

Just one more left, foundations of psychology tomorrow afternoon! Not stressing for that one... yet...

Anyway, after the exam I ran some errands. On my way home, two cheerful guys riding around uni campus on large tricycles gave me a Chupa Chup and said, "good luck with your exams!"

It made my day so, thank you Chupa Chup guys!

I returned home safely with no bird attacks which was a lovely change and spent some time unwinding after unloading my brain in the exam.

I decided to start packing for home! Because in case you haven't noticed, ONLY TWO MORE DAYS!

I started with the essentials:

  • clothes
  • clothes
  • more clothes
  • swimwear
  • gossip girl series (mum and I are having a marathon)
  • hats
  • toothbrush
  • and some more clothes (we all need options)
So I haven't quite finished yet but I think I have made a good start! I like to think I have gotten quite good at packing after the years at boarding school and whatnot...

I kind of enjoy packing because it (usually) means you are going somewhere new/different which I think is exciting! Yay for summer holidays!

Where are you packing for this summer?
